The Author

Early on in his career as an advertising copywriter, Desmond LaVelle decided that billboards and bus benches were rarely big enough to tell really great stories. While crafting Super Bowl commercials and Sunday circulars, LaVelle began writing his literary debut, Thirteen Cats LaVelle.

LaVelle grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and studied Journalism at the University of Kansas. He moved to Chicago immediately after graduation and, after a short decade spent riding the elevated train, traveled west to Sausalito. A Midwesterner at heart, living in beautiful California gave him an overwhelming feeling of guilt. He currently resides in Chicago. Again.

How could unnamed black kitty be born on 52 st. and buried in Rockbrook? I remember the cats being born in the library. I also remember Missy likeing my feet. What about the one Phelan ran over and she and your mom agreed not to tell Caitlin?

  2. I think in both instances you’re thinking of Baby Kitty: born to Mama Kitty in the Library on 52nd Street and killed by Phelan’s car. I have yet to write her story.

Missy had it out for you for whatever reason.

Desmond I laughed, I cried, I became sexually aroused. You are a great story teller and I find myself becoming more attracted to as the years roll on. Let’s go away on a trip soon!!!

  4. Craig, I just booked our tickets for Ixtapa. Meet me by the iguana hut.
